Home

Traffic in CO was awful. Finally home. Time to water Tomatoes.
(35368/575)

Update: Accident caused huge delay on I-25, The rest of the route home (I-25 to I-270 to I-70 to I-225 to Aurora) was congested and slow... and hot!

Welker Ave.

Off of I-25. Delayed by about 45 min. due to accident.
(35321/528)

Laramie

Windy ride.
1.93 gal. 100 mi.

Update: From Laramie I took US 287 South to Ft. Collins, where I took CO 14 East a bit to get on I-25 South.

Rawlins

2.03 gal. 116 mi.
Right by the state pen. I think this truck stop is where they all go for lunch. Subway.
Again, not much to see.
(35123/330)

Rock Springs

Warming up, finally. A little construction outside of Evanston, but not too much of a delay.

(35007/214)
103.3 mi. 2.048 gal.

Hypothermia

Damn, that was cold!
Stopped in Evanston, WY for breakfast, and to try to thaw out. This could take a while. Got the breakfast buffet at JB's. The food is cold, but at least the coffee is hot. When I got to my booth, I was greeted by a gentle looking older man with a big bushy beard. "Beautiful morning, isn't it." ... "Are you traveling?" ... "I bet gas is costly." ... "Do you have enough in your tank to get to your destination?" Freezing my ass off, weird people... Yep, I'm definitely in Wyoming.
Saw a balloon near US 40 along the way. Looked it was going to land on I-80 for a minute there.
(34904/111)

Heading home.

It's 6:15. Hoping to be on the road in 15 min. Going I-15 to I-215 to I-80.

Vernal

Not the most beautiful place on this trip... But, there's a random water slide right by the gas station.
3.5 gal. 170 mi.
(34487/355)

Maybell Town Park

Est. 1939 as "Public Square". Now it's more like "sprinkler square", where the local kids keep cool in the Summer, it seems.
(34395/263)

Food & beverages

Well, I had heard there was a winery in Steamboat. It turns out it closed years ago. But there is a brewery that serves food... next best thing. That's Mahagony Ridge. But, they don't open 'til 4. So, I picked a cool sounding place nearby... The Boathouse Pub, with a patio on the river. Having an Easy Street Wheat (seemed appropriate) and a natural beef burger. Pricey, but nice atmosphere.

(update: the food was very good)

Steamboat

Stopped for gas. 210 mi. 3.78 gal. Not bad at all.
(34317/185)

Rabbit Ears Pass
